Spam Calls
Medicare season should not mean your phone turns into a scam casino. Here’s how to spot shady calls, silence the noise, and block repeat offenders.
Because before we unf*ck Medicare, we may need to unf*ck your phone.
How to recognize a spam call
- They pressure you to act immediately.
- They say you’re “missing benefits.”
- They ask for your Medicare number, Social Security number, banking info, or date of birth.
- They claim Medicare sent them.
- They promise free groceries, dental, money back, or a better plan without explaining tradeoffs.
- They won’t clearly say who they work for or how they get paid.
Rule of thumb
Real Medicare help should not feel like a hostage negotiation. If someone is rushing you, scaring you, or asking for private information out of nowhere, hang up.How to block calls on iPhone
- 1Open the Phone app
- 2Tap the spam number in your call list (this opens their info card, it will not call them)

To silence unknown callers:
Settings → Apps → Phone → Silence Unknown Callers → Turn On.
This may send calls from people not in your contacts straight to voicemail, so use it carefully if you’re expecting calls from doctors, pharmacies, or family.
